Greetings!

Annoucing the winners of the 2006 Universal Screenplay Competition. And the winners are....

Winners of the IFA Screenplay Competition
by Karina Halle

Congratulations to William Finlay of Toronto, Ontario, for his winning Feature-Length Script Spur of the Moment. A comedy-thriller, Spur of the Moment is about a man who undergoes a surprising and remarkable transformation after he uncharacteristically decks a belligerent stranger - only to learn the man he punched is a notorious underworld figure who’s looking to exact revenge.
But winning is nothing new to Finlay, whose family script 10 Cent Solution won the Gold Prize at the 2004 PAGE International Screenwriting Awards.
Now, Finlay’s script will be sent to Hollywood for review by Larry Levinson, who contacted the IFA wanting to read the winning scripts. Levinson is currently producing Howard Stern’s Rock and Roll High School and the remake of Porky’s.

Other winners include:
Short Script - A Very Bad Night by Ed Stahr. A dead pig farmer, a meteorite, and a wrong number come together to irrevocably change the life of a funeral home worker.

Indie 300K - God Save The Faire by Jamie Denbo. A wity "mockumentary" about the behind-the- scenes dealing of a Renaissance Fair, proving that no matter what century you live in, business and love can be anything but "fair."

Indie 50K - The Dreamslayer by Betty E Smith.
THE DREAMSLAYER is a poignantly funny story about what happens when a young man full of dreams who falls in love with an older woman who wants to forget she ever had any.
